The Firefly
Words and phrases, simple and true;
Symbolic language between me and you.
Secret codes whispered, filling my ears,
Scribbled on pages stained by my tears.
Incantations and runes, pulled from the void;
Cast in a circle, no caution deployed.
A call to adventure, the vast, great unknown,
Chilling and thrilling, a path of our own.
Magical ink flows, the blood of the stars,
Weaving a pattern from Venus to Mars.
Ancient melodies beyond time and space,
Beckoning me away from this place.
Into the aether, intentions made clear,
Conjuring entities without any fear.
Mystical starlight shines from above,
Falling around like feathers of a dove.
Dark, spectral flames; an unholy light,
Rise from below, consuming the night.
Bathed in a moonbeam, channeling your voice;
A shadowy form appears without choice.
"Take me away." My command quick and certain,
Passed through the veil like a note behind curtains.
Smiling, laughing, obliged to comply,
Wrapping around me; no need for goodbyes.
Fire receding, ashes on the ground,
Fading away without one more sound.
A cold, silent note, we've chosen to be.
A pause in the great cosmic symphony.
Crossing the threshold, on the other side,
Wandering, searching; nowhere to hide.
Walking behind me, I feel your cold stare.
No need to look, though; I know you're not there.
For what is a shadow if there is no light?
Like sharpening fangs of a wolf who won't bite.
In this realm of endings where shade consumes all,
Except for, of course, the souls who won't fall.
Warriors of light, healers of pain,
Descend into darkness like fluorescent rain.
Just one tiny spark can ignite the whole sky
To seekers of hope searching for their "Why."
And so we continue alone on our mission,
Inserting a space to sit and listen;
Letting the silence reflect words unspoken,
Soft whispers releasing pain of the broken.
Follow, then, demon - watch what we do;
Maybe you can learn something from us, too.
Like a solitary firefly, I glow in the dark,
Because all it takes is just one tiny spark.
