The Dream
From time to time, sharp fangs bite;
A call comes in the dead of night.
Shadows chant with all their might
As we relent - no will to fight.
Inferno below, blue sky above;
Peace is all we're dreaming of.
Thick ice below, black sky above;
A world gone cold, devoid of love.
Ashes behind, dark path ahead;
Summoning existential dread.
Voices scream; I clutch my head;
Echoes of the walking dead.
Ghosts within and foes about;
Release me from my every doubt.
Fear and weakness scream and shout,
Silenced as their flames burn out.
No light ahead, no peace to find;
Sighing as I kill my mind.
Never thought that I would find
My dreams have all been left behind.
Awakening, cold sweat and tears,
Memories of darker years;
Silhouettes of doubts and fears
Still whisper to my tired ears.
